David Sandlin

Chicago optioned Sandlin to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday. A back issue surfaced earlier in spring training, followed by elbow soreness more recently. The injuries prevented him from making any Cactus League appearances.

Manager Will Venable said Monday that Sandlin is scheduled to resume throwing on Tuesday, beginning his throwing program this week. Charlotte's season starts in late March, and whether Sandlin can complete a full buildup before that point remains uncertain.

Sandlin was acquired from Boston via trade in February. He advanced from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester during the 2025 season, posting a 7.61 ERA and 2.07 WHIP with 21 strikeouts and 13 walks across 23.2 innings at Worcester.
