Drew Butera went 1-for-4 on Tuesday night vs the Athletics. His lone hit of the game was a two-run home run.
Fantasy Impact
Butera has filled in for the injured Salvador Perez, and although he's no where close to the player Perez is, he's produced admirably. He has hits in five out of his last six games to give himself a respectable .269 average. Obviously, he's not a fantasy option, but if you need a cheap DFS catcher he's not a bad choice.
Royals backup C Drew Butera was 3-for-4 in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Butera hit a solo HR and scored three times and drove in two runs.
Fantasy Impact
Great game aside, Butera has zero fantasy value playing behind Salvador Perez, who catches more games than anyone else in baseball. Barring an injury to Perez, who Butera ironically injured in the World Baseball Classic this winter, Butera won't be seeing any extra playing time.
Drew Butera gave Salvador Perez a well needed day off from behind the plate and was able to get a hit and score a run in the Royals loss. In limited playing time this year he is batting .171
Fantasy Impact
Butera is the backup for one of the most durable catchers in the game, so starts like this will be rare. Unless Perez is injured, he has no fantasy value.
