Dylan Floro picked up a save in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Mets, striking out all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Floro now has eight saves in 11 opportunities on the year. Five of those saves have come in September. The veteran righty has been fantastic this month, cruising to a 0.82 ERA and 0.36 WHIP across 11 innings. Floro's season did not have an ideal start, but he is finishing very strong.
Dylan Floro gave up one unearned run on two hits over one inning en route to his second save of the season in Monday's 3-2 win over the Nationals.
We might now be looking at a closer platoon forming in the Marlins bullpen, as Floro grabbed a second save in as many days Monday afternoon. It is notable that the veteran righty picked up both saves in the 10th inning of the respective games. Miami's left-handed closer Tanner Scott did not pitch on Monday after blowing a save attempt Sunday. He had pitched on three consecutive days prior. Floro piled up 15 saves for the Marlins in 2021.
Dylan Floro recorded a save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Nationals, striking out two while retiring the side in order in the 10th inning.
Floro saved 15 games for the Marlins in 2021, but injury and inconsistency has held him out of the closer role this year. He got the opportunity to finish off Sunday's win in the 10th inning after regular closer Tanner Scott blew a one-run Marlins lead in the ninth. Scott has been mostly solid since grabbing the gig in early-June, so the situation is only worth monitoring at this point. There is little reason to go out and grab Floro just yet.
Dylan Floro worked two scoreless innings of relief in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Giants, allowing no hits and no walks while striking out one.
After missing the first month of the season due to injury, Floro gave up five earned runs over just two innings in his first two appearances of the season back on May 10 and 14. Since then, he has gotten into a great rhythm on the mound. Over his last eight outings, the 31-year-old righty has not given up a single run while surrendering just three hits and two walks. The Marlins do not really have a set closer at the moment, but Floro may find his way back there soon. He nailed down 15 saves along with 2.81 ERA in 2021.
Dylan Floro threw a bullpen session on Thursday, as he recovers from a shoulder injury.
There were no reported problems for Floro, so hopefully this is a step in the right direction. He'll need at least a few rehab outings before he'll be ready to join the big club, so chances are that fantasy managers won't see him until May. When they do, it's unclear if it will be in the closer's role, as Anthony Bender has done a decent job in the ninth inning overall.
