Eloy Jimenez has agreed to a minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. The contract includes an invitation to MLB Spring Training.
Fantasy Impact
Jimenez was once a big power-hitting prospect for the White Sox, and he flashed that potential with 31 home runs in his rookie season of 2019. He followed that up with 14 home runs and a .295 average in the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. Since then, however, Jimenez has been hampered by injuries and lack of playing time and did not appear in a major league game in 2025. Still only 29, Jimenez has hit 95 career home runs in 534 games in parts of six major league seasons. Though it will take a great spring for Jimenez to find himself on Toronto's opening day roster, this is a low-risk, high-reward signing for the Blue Jays.
Eloy Jimenez has elected free agency.
Fantasy Impact
Jimenez spent all of this past season in the minor leagues. He will likely be seeking another minor league deal with an invite to spring training this offseason.
Eloy Jimenez inks minor-league deal with Blue Jays.
Fantasy Impact
Jimenez had been in the minors with the Rays this year, hitting .278 with a .733 OPS and three homers over 40 games with Triple-A Durham. The Rays released the one-time Silver Slugger (2020) just before the All-Star break. Jimenez will provide organizational depth for the Blue Jays, and it is certainly possible he gets another shot in the bigs when rosters expand in September.
The Rays released Eloy Jimenez.
Fantasy Impact
Jimenez was activated from the Triple-A injured list prior to his release. He'll likely look to land another opportunity with a different team.
Eloy Jimenez has been placed on the Triple-A injured list due to right Achilles tendinitis.
Fantasy Impact
Jimenez will be sidelined for at least the next week, but it sounds like he could be sidelined longer. He does not have a clear timetable to return.
