Eloy Jimenez, who recently underwent surgery for a torn left pectoral tendon, was placed on the 60-day injures list, retroactive to March 29th.
Jimenez is expected to be out for the vast majority of the regular season, which is a tough blow for both the White Sox and fantasy teams alike. He's a sneaky stash in deeper leagues that have the roster space but he can be dropped in standard re-draft leagues at this point.
White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) underwent surgery on Tuesday.
GM Rick Hahn said that Jimenez's timeline to return is still 5-6 months, despite the 4-5 month timetable that was reported on Monday. The injury is a brutal loss for fantasy managers who drafted early, and it's tough to stash him on the injured list given how long he'll be sidelined for. Top prospect Andrew Vaughn will try and transition to left in the meantime.
Eloy Jimenez's second opinion confirmed his pectoral tear. He will have surgery tomorrow and is expected to need 4-to-5 months to recover.
The 4-to-5 month window is better than first thought, but still leaves Jimenez with a best-case scenario of a return late in the season. He's still potentially draftable in deep 15-team (or larger) leagues, but only if you have multiple IL spots. Other than that, ignore Jimenez for redraft purposes.
White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez (pectoral) is going for a second opinion on Monday.
Jimenez was originally diagnosed with a torn pectoral that could sideline him for 5-6 months. It's unlikely that this second opinion changes much, but we'll provide an update on his status once the team releases any additional info.
Eloy Jimenez will be out for 5-6 months with a ruptured left pectoral tendon, according to general manager Rick Hahn. The injury will require surgery.
This is rough news for the White Sox and Jimenez, as it seems the White Sox slugger will miss most, if not all, of the 2021 season. There is no word yet on who will replace Jimenez in the White Sox outfield. Considering the length of time Jimenez is projected to be out, this injury probably only makes him draftable in keeper and dynasty leagues with multiple IL spots.
