Emerson Hancock earns win Friday

Emerson Hancock allowed three runs on four hits over five innings with five strikeouts and two walks in a win on Friday against the Astros.

Fantasy Impact

After a quick first inning, Hancock ran into trouble as Houston loaded the bases with nobody out. Hancock got Cam Smith to line out and struck out Joey Loperfido before Christian Vazquez ripped a bases clearing double down the third base line to tie the game. Hancock was able to settle in and pitch just enough to earn his second win on the season. He'll take on the Athletics next.

Emerson Hancock (SP, RP SEA) records win

Hancock earned a win, pitching six innings of hitless, scoreless ball through six innings in Seattle's 8-0 victory over the Guardians.

Fantasy Impact

Hancock was nearly perfect over six frames, departing the game with a potential no-hitter intact before the Seattle bullpen took over in the seventh. Hancock’s dominance was characterized by an "infield-only" profile; notably, no batted ball against him left the infield during his six innings of work. He utilized a precise mix of his 94-96 mph four-seamer and a devastating slider that accounted for the majority of his career-high nine strikeouts. His only blemishes were a first-inning walk to José Ramírez and a hit batsman in the sixth, both of which he navigated without allowing a runner to reach second base. While Hancock was originally seen as a temporary fill-in for Bryce Miller (oblique), a six-inning hitless performance makes him incredibly difficult to remove from the rotation.

Emerson Hancock to pitch fourth game of season for Mariners

Emerson Hancock will start on Sunday against the Guardians.

Fantasy Impact

Hancock will open the season in the Mariners starting rotation with Bryce Miller on the injured list. Hancock would have been No. 5 in the rotation, but Seattle likely wanted him to avoid the Yankees so he'll close the opening series against the Guardians.

Emerson Hancock Shines in Short Outing Against Rockies

Emerson Hancock allowed no earned runs on two hits while striking out seven over four innings in Thursday's victory against the Rockies.

Fantasy Impact

After today’s performance, Hancock's season stats now stand at a 4.90 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 4 wins against 5 losses across 16 starts and 90 innings. He isn't expected to stick in the rotation as he's been in the bullpen with all the Mariners' starters healthy. However, an outing like this helps his case as a potential long relief option when the games really matter.
