Hill debuted with a 4.03 ERA across 17 outings (eight starts) with the Tigers last season but is vying for a bullpen role in addition to starting pitching depth this spring.

Despite allowing an earned run, one hit, and three walks Thursday, Hill earned the win in an eventual 10-3 Tigers triumph. The right-hander still owns a 2.25 ERA in the spring after tossing 4.03 ERA ball across eight starts and 17 appearances with the Tigers in 2022. He has a strong chance at cracking the Tigers' Opening Day roster as a reliever but should also serve as rotation depth in 2023.
