Mitchell has a fracture in his left hand. It remains unclear who will replace him in the outfield as of now.
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell has been cleared to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville in his return from shoulder surgery.
Fantasy Impact
At the time of his injury in April, it was unclear whether Mitchell would be able to make it back in the 2023 season. It appears he will, providing a boost to the Brewers' outfield in the process. The 25-year-old has enjoyed big early-career success in the big leagues, hitting .286 with five homers, nine stolen bases, and an .803 OPS across the first 44 games of his MLB career.
Garrett Mitchell received a second opinion on his shoulder that confirmed he will need surgery. The procedure will happen next week.
Fantasy Impact
Mitchell injured his shoulder last week but was looking for a second opinion before opting for surgery. He now has that second opinion, and will likely be out for the rest of 2023.
Garrett Mitchell left Tuesday's game early on Tuesday against the Mariners due to a shoulder injury.
Fantasy Impact
"It's a right shoulder issue," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "He'll fly back with us (Wednesday) and get checked out by the doctors. He felt the subluxing on the throw (in the 10th). That's all we know right now." Mitchell is day-to-day right now.
Garrett Mitchell went 2-for-3 with one walk, one run scored, and one stolen base in a win over the Padres Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Mitchell’s steal of third base put Brian Anderson in the position to hit a sac fly for the Brewers’ lone run. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing .286/.340/.491 with three home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base in 14 games this season. With it being Mitchell’s first full season, fantasy managers should like what they are seeing so far from him this season.
