Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian announced Wednesday that Grayson Rodriguez (elbow) is expected to be ready for the start of spring training. The right-hander, who was acquired from the Orioles on Tuesday in exchange for Taylor Ward, is scheduled to begin throwing bullpen sessions in January.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez missed the entire 2025 campaign due to multiple arm issues, culminating in a right elbow debridement to remove a bone spur in August. He had been scheduled to commence a throwing program in October. Despite flashing upside, staying healthy has been a challenge; he carries a career 4.11 ERA and 259:78 K:BB ratio across 238.2 regular-season innings. Following the lost season, Rodriguez is likely to face workload restrictions with his new club in 2026.
Grayson Rodriguez has been traded to the Angels.
Fantasy Impact
In somewhat of a shocker, the Orioles have traded former top-pitching prospect Grayson Rodriguez to the pitching-starved Angels in exchange for power-hitting outfielder Taylor Ward. This move addresses a seeming need for both sides. Rodriguez had a solid, 13-win season that included a 3.86 ERA in 2024, but he missed all of this past season due to injuries. Having just turned 26, the Angels obviously hope Rodriguez can reassert himself as a potential front-line starter.
Grayson Rodriguez will start throwing ramp up October.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez underwent successful surgery on his elbow in August. He is expected to be fully healthy heading into spring training.
Grayson Rodriguez underwent successful right elbow debridement to remove a bone spur on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
It has officially been a lost season for Rodriguez due to injuries.
Grayson Rodriguez (elbow) will have debridement surgery.
Fantasy Impact
This procedure was already thought to be a possibility for Rodriguez. The young righty has been out all season, and he has not made an appearance for the Orioles since July 31 of last year. Rodriguez will now turn his aim to 2026.
