Free-agent C Hank Conger has signed a minor-league deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Conger will earn 950K if he can make it to the majors with 450K in performance bonuses.
Conger played in 49 games last season for the Tampa Bay Rays hitting .216 with six home runs and 22 RBI. Fantasy wise Conger should be ignored on draft day and during the regular season unless he can obtain regular at-bats.
The Rays have optioned catcher Hank Conger to Triple-A.
Conger entered the season in a platoon with Curt Casali behind the plate, who figures to see more regular time after the All-Star break. Conger struggled to a .571 OPS over 124 at-bats this season.
Hank Conger went 1-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, and two walks in his lone start of the day against the Orioles.
Conger got the start in Game 2 after Curt Casali started the first game of the day against the Orioles. He's still only starting two-to-four games a week, with Casali logging a few more at-bats on a consistent basis. The home run was his third of the season, and his current stat line sits at .211/290/.322. He's of no use to fantasy owners outside of deep, two-catcher, AL-Only formats.
Hank Conger went 2-for-3 with a solo-home run, double, and a walk in the Rays 7-4 win over the Twins on Saturday.
This was only Conger's fourth start in-the-last eight games, as the Rays deploy Curt Casali and him evenly. His home run was in the third inning off of Ervin Santana on a first-pitch breaking ball, and was not only his second of the year, but his second in-his-last four starts. His double was his third of the season, and mixed in with his two other doubles and home runs gives him five extra-base hits over his last 13 at-bats. His season line still sits at a meager .208/.260/.333, and he'll continue to be relegated to two-catcher AL-Only formats.
Hank Conger went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a three-run home run, and two runs scored to help give the Rays a victory against the Yankees.
This wasn't only the first three-hit game of the year for Conger, but his first multi-hit game as well. The home run and the two doubles were also the first extra-base hits of the year for the 28-year old catcher as well. He'll continue to share time behind the dish with Curt Casali, and isn't relevant for fantasy in anything shallower than a two-catcher AL-only format. He's currently hitting .196/.227/.270.
