Harrison Bader has agreed to a one-year, $10.5 million contract with the New York Mets.
Bader was limited to 98 games in 2023 between the Yankees and Reds, hitting .232/.274/.348 with 20 stolen bases overall. He has a chance to be an everyday player in the Mets' outfield if they do not add any other pieces this offseason.

Bader was placed on the injured list Monday with a groin strain and will now not return this season. The 29-year-old veteran played in just 14 games with the Reds after being claimed off waivers. Bader finishes the 2023 season with a .232 batting average, seven home runs, 40 RBI, and 20 stolen bases in 98 games.

Bader will sit out for potentially the rest of the regular season, as he is eligible to return on 9/28. Nick Martini is the most likely candidate for more at-bats with Bader out.

Bader will receive Monday’s series opener off for rest purposes, with TJ Friedl patrolling center field and batting second against the Mariners for manager David Bell.

Bader will bring a .240/.278/.365 slash line with seven home runs, 37 RBI, and 17 stolen bases to the Reds. The 29-year-old will provide the Reds with a solid right handed bat and an excellent speed option as they make a push for the playoffs.
