Harrison Bader hits double in loss Friday

Harrison Bader went 1-for-3 with a double in the Cardinals' 3-1 loss to the Cubs on Friday.

Fantasy Impact

Bader was the only St. Louis baserunner to reach second base against Cole Hamels in this game. The young defensive whiz has seen increased playing time as of late, but his .240 AVG and 28% K rate aren't very inspiring from a fantasy perspective. He is best used in OBP leagues, as Bader's 10% BB rate has kept his on-base percentage at a healthy .354 mark.

Harrison Bader hits fifth homer Saturday

Harrison Bader went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Cardinals' 7-4 win over the Cubs on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact

Bader has taken over as the every day centerfielder in St. Louis, but it's mainly because of his glove, rather than his bat. He still has a 10.4% walk rate and .352 OBP this season, but a .239 AVG and 29% strikeout rate really limits his upside. He's a deep league option only at this point.

Harrison Bader hitless in win Thursday

Harrison Bader went 0-for-4 wtih a strikeout in the Cardinals' 5-3 win over the Phillies on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact

Bader finishes the series in Philadelphia without recording a hit. He'd been hitting better in May, with a .278 AVG this month coming into this game, but only has one homer over that stretch. He's a better real-life player than fantasy player thanks to his elite defense and high walk rate, but he does have value in deeper leagues, especially those which use OBP instead of batting average.

Harrison Bader homers in loss Friday

Harrison Bader went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in the Cardinals' 7-3 loss to the Rangers on Friday.

Fantasy Impact

Bader has recently been relegated to a bench role after being outperformed by Jose Martinez and Dexter Fowler, but the Cardinals had a DH in this game, which is why Bader got the rare start. He took advantage too, and since Bader is an elite defender he could challenge Fowler for playing time if he can prove valuable with the bat. This series in Texas should give him the chance to make an impact.

Harrison Bader hits third home run Monday

Harrison Bader went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the Cardinals' 6-3 win over the Nationals on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

This was Bader's first home run since April 3. He had an IL stint in there, but he's still mostly been a disappointment at the plate so far. He only has a .222 AVG, but his 15.3% walk rate keeps him at a .397 OBP, and that paired with Bader's elite defense will keep him in the lineup on most days.
