Harry Ford will compete with Keibert Ruiz for the Washington Nationals' starting catcher spot during spring training
Fantasy Impact
Ford enters spring training as a legitimate contender for the Nationals’ starting catcher role. The organization’s No. 2 prospect, he slashed .293/.408/.460 with Triple-A Tacoma last season and brings upside on both sides of the ball. Ruiz has been Washington’s primary catcher since being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Max Scherzer–Trea Turner trade in 2021, posting a .249/.294/.370 slash line across 466 games. However, he was limited to 68 games last season after sustaining a concussion in June and struggled to stay on the field as he worked his way back.
The Nationals acquired C Harry Ford and RHP Isaac Lyon from the Mariners for LHP Jose Ferrer.
Fantasy Impact
Once a top prospect in the Mariners organization, Ford made his MLB debut in limited action this past season. With him being blocked by Cal Raleigh in Seattle, he'll have a chance to compete for a key role behind the plate alongside Keibert Ruiz for the Nationals.
The Mariners selected the contract of C Harry Ford from Triple-A Tacoma.
Fantasy Impact
Ford is officially set to make his MLB debut. The former No. 12 overall pick has slashed .283/.408/.460 with 16 homers and seven steals for Triple-A Tacoma this season. He'll likely see some time at designated hitter for Seattle.
The Mariners are expected to leave Harry Ford on their taxi squad for now.
Fantasy Impact
Ford flew to Texas to join Seattle after Mitch Garver was injured on Thursday. He said has no structural damage to his jaw, so it appears he will avoid the injured list. The Mariners prospect will wait a little longer to make his debut.
The Mariners are expected to place Harry Ford on their taxi squad.
Fantasy Impact
Ford is set to join the Mariners in Texas. He will be activated if Mitch Garver is placed on the injured list.
