Waldrep really struggled in his second start of the season for the Braves on Tuesday in Pittsburgh. The young righty has allowed 10 earned runs while walking 10 batters over just 10 2/3 innings since being activated off the IL and called up to the bigs a couple of weeks ago. Tyler Kinley was activated from paternity leave in a corresponding move.
Hurston Waldrep was hammered for seven runs on six hits and five walks while striking out two over 3 1/3 innings in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Pirates.

Waldrep really struggled with his control in Tuesday's start. The young righty not only walked five batters, but he plunked the first one he faced as well. Waldrep spent most of the first half of the season on the shelf recovering from elbow surgery, and he has yet to come close to the form he displayed in 2025.

Waldrep made his first start of the season for the Braves on Thursday, and just his second appearance overall after spending the first few months on the IL. The young righty had a rocky first inning, letting the first two Cardinals hitters to reach base before serving up a three-run homer to Jordan Walker later in the frame. However, Waldrep impressively recovered over the next four-plus innings, keeping the Cardinals' bats from adding any additional runs. Expectations remain high for Waldrep after he posted a 2.88 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with 55 strikeouts across 56 1/3 innings as a rookie in 2025.
