Jack Kochanowicz has short outing Sunday

Jack Kochanowicz lasted just 2.1 innings on Sunday and surrendered three runs on five hits, walked four, and struck out one as the Angels lost to the Rays, 5-2.

Fantasy Impact

Kochanowicz struggled with his command on Sunday and, when he did find the strike zone, he allowed five hits - including a home run - while recording only seven outs on the day. He needed 68 pitches with only 35 thrown for strikes as his four walks were one shy of a season-high. Kochanowicz went 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA in five April starts but, in May, has pitched to a 7.85 ERA while going 0-4 in six outings. It doesn't get any easier as his next scheduled start is lined up for Saturday in a road start against the Dodgers.

Jack Kochanowicz hammered in loss to Dodgers Friday

Jack Kochanowicz served up three home runs in six innings and was charged with six runs on seven hits in a 6-0 loss to the Dodgers on Friday.

Fantasy Impact

Kochanowicz had served up only two home runs in his first eight starts before allowing three bombs on Friday, which accounted for five of the Dodgers' six runs on the night. In his last two outings, Kochanowicz has allowed 13 runs (12 earned) on 16 hits with a 4:4 K:BB ratio across 10 innings of work. He has suffered losses in all three of his May starts and has dropped to 2-3 with a 4.56 ERA on the year. He's lined up to take on the Athletics on Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Jack Kochanowicz roughed up by Blue Jays Saturday

Jack Kochanowicz endured his worst outing of the season on Saturday as he allowed seven runs - six earned - on nine hits in four innings in a 14-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

Fantasy Impact

Kochanowicz kept the Blue Jays off the scoreboard until the fourth inning when Toronto scored a single run to take a 1-0 advantage. However, the righthander was unable to record an out in the fifth as Toronto plated seven runs in the inning to take an 8-0 lead. Six of the runs - five earned - were charged to Kochanowicz as all six batters he faced in the inning reached and scored. After going 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA in five April starts, Kochanowicz is 0-2 with a 6.97 ERA in two May outings. Overall, he is 2-2 with a 3.97 ERA and a 30:23 K:BB ratio in 45.1 innings. It won't get easier in his next scheduled start as he will toe the rubber against the Dodgers on Friday.

Jack Kochanowicz suffers first loss of season Sunday

Jack Kochanowicz went 6.1 innings on Sunday and allowed two runs on five hits while walking three and striking out six as the Angels dropped a 5-1 decision to the Mets.

Fantasy Impact

Kochanowicz pitched well enough to earn a quality start on Sunday, but was outdueled by New York's Clay Holmes and was saddled with his first loss of the year instead. The righthander made one mistake that cost him as Mark Vientos belted a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. Kochanowicz has not allowed more than three runs in a start since his first start of the year on March 29 and has been a pleasant surprise to the Angels' rotation this season. After going 3-11 with a 6.81 ERA in 23 starts last year, Kochanowicz is 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA in seven starts this season and has limited opponents to a .192 batting average, allowing 29 hits in 41.1 innings. He's slated to take on the Blue Jays, in Toronto, on Saturday.
