The Texas Rangers have signed first-round selection right-hander Jack Leiter to a contract on Wednesday.
Leiter, son of former major-leaguer Al Leiter, signed his rookie contract with Texas on Wednesday. He was selected second overall by the Rangers in the 2021 MLB Draft. The 21-year-old owned a 2.13 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and a 179:45 K: BB across 110 innings in his last season at Vanderbilt. The rookie phenom is a strikeout machine and has a bright future for the Rangers.
The Rangers have selected Vanderbilt right-handed pitcher Jack Leiter with the second overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Leiter's talents were on display at Vandy this past season. He is a strikeout machine whose fastball tops out in the upper-90s. He also possesses a lethal 12-6 curveball and can throw a solid changeup and slider, too. Texas has a bright future with Leiter joining its farm system.
