Jacob Barnes got one out to record his second save.
Fantasy Impact
Barnes has recorded two one-out saves in the past week. It's not going to be a trend - Edwin Diaz pitched in game one on Thursday, and Barnes has a 6.43 ERA this season.
Jacob Barnes came on and got one out in the bottom of the 12th for the save.
Fantasy Impact
Barnes needed only four pitches to record the save. He's got a 7.71 ERA in 12 games this season.
Jacob Barnes pitched the final two frames of a 2-0 victory over the Reds on Wednesday afternoon to record his second save of the season. Barnes did not allow a hit while walking one and recording three strikeouts.
Fantasy Impact
The Brewers are making the two-inning save trendy again with three straight saves spanning two innings, one by Barnes and two by Josh Hader. Look for manager Craig Counsell to keep rolling with his latest method of managing the bullpen while Corey Knebel is out since it appears to be working. Barnes will continue to be in the mix for saves but Hader is the preferred pickup in fantasy leagues.
Jacob Barnes entered the ninth inning in a save situation with the Brewers up 2-1 against the Cardinals. Barnes proceeded to relinquish the lead by issuing a pair of walks and uncorking two wild pitches.
Fantasy Impact
That is strike two for Barnes who has blown both of his save opportunities since being given the first shot to take over the closer's role with Corey Knebel on the DL. Barnes looked nervous on Tuesday struggling with his control. Look for the Brewers to give someone else the next opportunity, likely either Matt Albers or Jeremy Jeffress.
Jacob Barnes blew his first save opportunity on Saturday against the Cubs, allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks. He took the loss to fall to 0-1.
Fantasy Impact
The line doesn't look good, but the ninth inning unfolded as follows: out, infield single (plus error), walk, error, infield single, single, intentional walk, sacrifice bunt, walk, foul-out. Few, if any of the balls against Barnes were hit hard, and he was mostly let down by his defense. The Milwaukee closing situation is a bit up in the air but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Barnes get the next shot again.
