Colorado Rockies reliever Jake Bird has "enough time" to be ready for Opening Day, according to manager Bud Black.
Fantasy Impact
Black also mentioned it would be "really close" for Bird to be ready in time for the start of the season after he injured his left oblique early in camp. Bird threw a bullpen session on March 11 but it's unclear what the next step is at this point. The 27-year-old took on a greater role later in the 2022 season and worked to a 4.91 ERA and 19.9% K-rate as a rookie in 2022. He also pitched to an excellent 2.77 ERA and 32.1% K% in 22 Triple-A appearances but should crack the Opening Day roster if he's healthy by the end of the month.
Jake Bird has a left oblique strain and won't be able to pitch for Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic.
Fantasy Impact
Bird is expected to be sidelined for an indefinite amount of time. He posted a 4.91 ERA across 38 appearances with five holds as a rookie last season out of the Rockies bullpen.
