Joe Biagini traded to the Astros

Blue Jays reliever Joe Biagini has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays just ahead of Wednesday's trade deadline, according to multiple reports.

Fantasy Impact

The Astros placed Ryan Pressly on the injured list earlier in the day and were said to be in the market for relievers, and they struck a deal just before the deadline with the Blue Jays for Biagini. Biagini has a 3.86 ERA on the year and 49 strikeouts over 49 innings. He has value in holds leagues but will not likely see any save opportunities in Houston.

Joe Biagini struggles in his first appearance as closer

Joe Biagini allowed two earned runs on one hit and two walks while striking out none across one-third of an inning Wednesday against the Orioles.

Fantasy Impact

Biagini was named the temporary closer for the Blue Jays while Ken Giles is on the 10-day. He did not make a good impression in his first appearance as he could not get out of the eight inning. Unless your desperate for saves its better to leave Biagini on the waiver wire.

Joe Biagini saves game on Monday against the Twins

Joe Biagini struck out one and allowed no baserunners to record his first save of the season Monday in a 5-3 win over the Twins.

Fantasy Impact

Biagini got an opportunity for the save with normal closer Ken Giles out sick for the night. Most chances will go to Giles during the season. Biagini is a good player to own in fantasy leagues that count holds as he already has four this year.

Joe Biagini lands on the 10-day disabled list

Joe Biagini was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

Biagini lost his role as a starter back in May and has been pitching exclusively in long relief ever since. There is no reason to own Biagini in any fantasy formats.

Joe Biagini gives up four earned runs in loss Sunday

Joe Biagini surrendered four runs, four hits, three walks, and struck out three in the Blue Jay's 5-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox.

Fantasy Impact

Biagini currently maintains a 7.98 ERA and a 1.84 WHIP and should not be on anyone's radar for fantasy purposes until he shows improvement. If you are desperate for a pitcher, you can find one on the waiver that would have more value than Biagini.
