Acquired in a trade with the Rays just a few weeks ago, Rock has worked exclusively at the Triple-A level so far this year, posting a 4.88 ERA with a whopping 40 strikeouts across 24 innings. Control has been the issue for Rock, as he has walked 21 batters. David Sandlin was sent down in a corresponding move.

Joe Rock has been traded from the Tampa Bay Rays to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for infielder Oliver Dunn. To make room for Rock on the 40-man roster, catcher Kyle Teel was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Rock appeared in 13 games at Triple-A Durham this season and pitched to a 5.40 ERA and a 1.93 WHIP with 17 walks and 27 strikeouts in 15 innings. He made his major league debut with the Rays last season, appearing in three games and posting a 2.35 ERA with an 11:2 K:BB ratio in 7.2 innings. Rock, who has already been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte, will provide bullpen depth within the White Sox organization and could make his way on to the big league roster at some point this summer.
