Eligibility
Red Sox reliever Joely Rodriguez could be activated from the injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Marlins.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez has been on a Triple-A rehab assignment and could return from his shoulder injury on Tuesday. The left-hander has yielded eight earned runs in just four innings across five appearances this season and pitched to a 4.47 ERA across 55 appearances with the Mets in 2022.
Boston Red Sox reliever Joely Rodriguez is set to pitch for a team affiliate in his return from an oblique injury.
Fantasy Impact
The left-hander has yet to pitch in the regular season this spring but would be a welcome addition to a beat-up Red Sox pitching staff. The 31-year-old spent last season with the New York Yankees, posting a 4.47 ERA alongside a hearty 26.4% K% across 55 appearances.
Joely Rodriguez played catch up to 75 feet on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez suffered the oblique injury late in spring training. He continues to slowly work his way back to full health. He remains without a timetable to return, but Rodriguez could make his Boston debut sometime in the next few weeks barring any setbacks. Rodriguez signed a one-year deal with the Red Sox back in November.
Red Sox pitcher Joely Rodriguez exited his Saturday outing with pain in his right torso.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez appeared to be in significant pain after throwing an eighth-inning pitch and left the game immediately. While he's pitched to a 4.47 ERA or worse in each of the last two seasons, he also owns a 3.43 FIP or better in each campaign while he turned in a healthy 26.4% K-rate in 55 appearances with the Mets in 2022. The southpaw's Opening Day availability certainly appears to be in jeopardy given the look of Saturday's injury.
Joely Rodriguez has signed a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox with a club option for 2024.
Fantasy Impact
Rodriguez had a decent 2022 season with the Mets with a 4.47 ERA (3.62 xERA) and 10.19 K/9 in 50.1 innings. The Red Sox closing situation is not totally clear, but it still seems unlikely at the moment that Rodriguez would immediately be in line for many saves in 2023.
