The Cardinals have recalled John King from Triple-A Memphis.

The move was made in order to make room for Sonny Gray who was activated from the injured list to start Tuesday versus the Phillies. The southpaw allowed one earned run in 2 1/3 innings with the Cardinals this season and owns a 3.91 ERA across 109 career big-league outings, all in relief.

The Rangers have placed left-handed reliever John King on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation. The placement is retroactive to July 7th. In a corresponding move, Texas promoted outfielder Jason Martin to the majors.

With that said, he did allow three runs (two earned) on one walk, two hit batsmen, and a throwing error by himself. He also struck out three batters in the process.
