Outfielder Jordan Schafer was released by the Twins on Thursday.

Schafer began the season as the starting center fielder for the Twins, but with the call up of Byron Buxton and the presence of Shane Robinson and Aaron Hicks on the roster, there just isn't a place for Schafer anymore.

Schafer has been the Twins everyday CF, but has failed to provide much offensive production this season. Shane Robinson is a likely replacement for Schafer in center unless the Twins decide to bring someone up from Triple-A.
