The Miami Marlins released Jordany Valdespin from their Triple-A team. He is free to sign with any team.
Fantasy Impact
Valdespin was hitting .293/.348/.387 in the hitter friendly Pacific Coast League this season. He'll likely latch on with another team soon, but his reputation as a clubhouse cancer may cause some teams to shy away.
The Marlins has outrighted OF Jordany Valdespin to triple-A New Orleans.
Fantasy Impact
It's not terribly fantasy-relevant, but it may be a sign of a shake up in Miami. Giancarlo Stanton is still a few weeks from coming back, and this move may be a precursor to the return of Marcell Ozuna.
After only four plate appearances with the Marlins, Jordany Valdespin will be designated for assignment in a move to clear roster space for LHP Adam Conley, who will start on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
Valdespin played well with triple-A New Orleans, but with the Marlins needing an emergency starter, was the easiest body to remove from the roster. The Marlins will continue to field a putrid outfield without the likes of Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna.
Jordany Valdespin went 7-for-12 in his first three games with Triple-A New Orleans.
Fantasy Impact
He was the leadoff batter in all three games, but started twice as a right fielder, while starting once as a center fielder. Two of the seven hits were for extra bases. Remember that Valdespin hit .378 in Spring Training before being sent to Triple-A. Valdespin, 27, appeared in 52 games with the Marlins as a utility player last year.
Jordany Valdespin dinged a two-run triple in his only at-bat on Tuesday during the Marlins' 9-4 victory over the Red Sox.
Fantasy Impact
Now that the Fish are giving more playing time to their roster candidates, Valdespin has gotten less burn over the last week or so. His .379 average, eight RBI, and three triples are impressive, but the Marlins only see him as an injury call-up regardless.
