Josh Lowe went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run on Friday, lifting the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-2 win in Houston.
Fantasy Impact
Lowe batted seventh and played left field for the second consecutive game and recorded his first two hits in an Angels' uniform on Friday. Lowe snapped a 1-1 tie in the top of the second with his three-run home run off of Houston starter, Mike Burrows. The 28-year-old has shown a good combination of speed and power in the majors as evidenced by his 2023 season where he hit 20 home runs and swiped 32 bases in 135 games with the Rays. Lowe is currently penciled in to play every day and, if he does, he could approach those numbers in 2026.
Lowe sustained an oblique injury in late February and missed more than two weeks before returning to the Cactus League lineup Saturday as a designated hitter. He played the outfield Tuesday in a minor-league game on the back fields of camp, taking another step in his progression.
Fantasy Impact
Lowe is set to start again at DH in Wednesday's split-squad game against the Reds and has indicated the oblique injury is not expected to limit his outfield availability once the regular season gets underway.
Angels outfielder Josh Lowe (oblique) faced live hitters for the first time since February on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Lowe was injured on a throw to the infield in a Feb. 25 Cactus League game. However, the 28-year-old belives he will be ready for Opening Day and will be looking to bounce back from his .220 average and .649 OPS from last season with the Rays.
Lowe (oblique) has appeared in just three Cactus League games due to a left oblique issue. He has dealt with oblique problems previously in his career.
Fantasy Impact
Minor-league games this weekend represent the target for resuming hitting activities. Los Angeles believes backfield at-bats will provide sufficient preparation for Opening Day despite the limited exhibition game action.
Josh Lowe took dry swings on Friday and “said it went well.”
Fantasy Impact
Lowe has continued to work his way back from an oblique injury he suffered at the end of February. The next steps for him will be to hit in the cage, followed by facing live pitching.
