The Dodgers and Rangers have struck a deal that sends reliever Josh Sborz to Texas. In return, minor league pitcher Jhan Zambrano will head to the Los Angeles organization.
Sborz, 27, is a former second-round pick who appeared in four games last season, allowing just one run on two hits over 4.1 innings. He had been in DFA limbo, which explains the Dodgers' urgency in finding a trade partner. Heading back to Los Angeles is Zambrano, a 19-year-old pitching prospect from Venezuela who posted a 2.55 ERA in the Dominican Summer League nearly two years ago.
