JR Ritchie gave up one run on just two hits and three walks while striking out four over 4 1/3 innings in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Cubs.
Fantasy Impact
Starting for the first time since May 4, Ritchie dropped his ERA to a strong 3.32 with Wednesday's effort. The rookie continues to be a bit erratic with his control, but he managed to limit another strong lineup despite that. Ritchie has struck out 17 over 21 2/3 innings while holding opponents to a .208 AVG and inducing a 43.3% groundball rate.
JR Ritchie gave up three runs on four hits and six walks while striking out just two over five innings in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Mariners.
Fantasy Impact
Ritchie had some control issues Monday night, and though he was able to battle through them to keep the Mariners scoreless through five innings, he finally paid the price in the sixth. After walking the first two batters in the sixth inning, Luke Raley chased Ritchie from the game with a three-run blast. Overall, Ritchie has largely looked the part of a big-league hurler through three starts, posting a 3.63 ERA with 13 strikeouts across 17 1/3 innings.
Braves manager Walt Weiss said after Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers that JR Ritchie won't be optioned back to Triple-A.
Fantasy Impact
Ritchie will remain in the rotation when Spencer Strider returns this weekend. He will make his next start in his hometown of Seattle against the Mariners.
JR Ritchie allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out four over 5 1/3 innings in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Tigers.
Fantasy Impact
Ritchie was not nearly as sharp Wednesday as he was in his MLB debut last week. Still, the young righty impressively navigated plenty of traffic on the base paths and kept the Braves in the game, which they would win in a dramatic fashion via a walk-off homer in the ninth inning. Ritchie has now turned in a 2.92 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through two starts, striking out 11 batters over 12 1/3 innings.
JR Ritchie will start on Wednesday against the Tigers.
Fantasy Impact
Following an impressive debut, Ritchie will now start opposite of Tarik Skubal. He should see at least a couple more chances to start.
