Tigers right-hander Keider Montero pitched three shutout innings while earning the save against the Rangers on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
A seventh-inning walk to Evan Carter was Montero's lone blemish on the afternoon, as he was otherwise excellent despite not recording a strikeout of any of the 10 batters he faced. The right-hander was recently moved to the bullpen with a sudden logjam of healthy starters in the rotation, but Montero appears to be a young arm on the rise. The 25-year-old now owns a 3.21 ERA across 18 outings (15 starts), but his underwhelming 16.2% K% has him sitting with a 4.81 xFIP and a 4.70 SIERA, suggesting some regression could be heading his way.
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed that Keider Montero is being moved to the bullpen.
Fantasy Impact
Montero had been pitching well as a starter. He'll add some length out of the bullpen for Detroit.
Keider Montero allowed five hits and one walk while striking out three over seven scoreless innings in Friday’s win over the Astros.
Fantasy Impact
Montero continues a solid stretch on the mound, allowing two earned runs or less in four of his last six trips to the mound. The right-hander has offered manager another stable starting option in the Tigers rotation for manager AJ Hinch of late, posting a 3.39 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with a 4-5 record and 5.8 K/9 ratio across 16 starts.
Tigers right-hander Keider Montero pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings while earning the win over the Twins on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Montero was excellent on Thursday, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out four across 6 1/3 innings, cruising to his third win over the season in the process. It also helped that his offense would pound out 11 runs on the back of six home runs in an 11-0 victory. Montero has been rock-solid in covering for a battered Tigers rotation, posting a 3.61 ERA through 13 starts. It's unclear if or when Montero will make his next start, as the Tigers will get both Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize back from the injured list for this weekend's three-game set in Cleveland against the Guardians.
Tigers right-hander Keider Montero allowed four earned runs in five innings while taking the loss on Saturday against the Mariners.
Fantasy Impact
Montero pitched a scoreless first inning, but went one to allow a pair of RBI doubles and a solo home run across the next three frames. In total, he surrendered six hits and walked one while striking out just one, taking his fourth loss of the season in 12 starts. Nonetheless, the 25-year-old has been serviceable in a battered Tigers rotation, posting a 3.95 ERA across 66 innings. He is scheduled to take on the Guardians on the road on Friday.
