Righthander Kervin Castro has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the New York Yankees.
Fantasy Impact
Castro had a great spring for the Yankees as he posted a 0.96 ERA in 9.1 innings with a 6:2 K:BB ratio. The veteran righthander came up quickly and appeared in 20 major league games with the Giants and Cubs in 2021 and 2022 and posted a 4.91 ERA in 25.2 innings. He was an option to earn an Opening Day spot after posting a 1.53 ERA with a 52:22 K:BB ratio in 47 innings last year with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He'll open the 2026 campaign there, but would likely be one of the first call-ups if the bullpen deals with struggles and/or injuries.
The New York Yankees selected Kervin Castro's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday. His performance in 2025 has earned him a place on New York's 40-man roster.
Fantasy Impact
Castro dominated minor-league hitters in 2025, posting a 1.53 ERA and 1.04 WHIP alongside a 52:22 K:BB ratio across 47 innings. He will now have a chance to win a spot in the Yankees' bullpen during spring training.
