Keynan Middleton resumes throwing program

Keynan Middleton (elbow) was cleared to resume a throwing program Monday.

Fantasy Impact

Middleton returned from his rehab assignment 10 days ago due to mild ulnar neuritis. He was given the green light by the Angels medical staff to resume throwing. A timetable for his return has not been announced. Middleton underwent Tommy John surgery in May of 2018.

Keynan Middleton headed for Tommy John surgery

After initial diagnosis and a second opinion, it has been recommended that Los Angeles Angels reliever Keynan Middleton undergo UCL reconstruction, the team announced Thursday. He is scheduled to meet with the team this evening to discuss a plan of action, plan of care, and recovery timeline.

Fantasy Impact

Tommy John surgery is the kiss of death for a pitcher and means a recovery time of more than a year. Once he receives the surgery, Middleton will miss the rest of this season and at least the beginning of next season. It goes without saying, but this is a devastating blow to the young reliever who had been pitching so well for the Angels this season.

Keynan Middleton heads to the DL with right elbow injury

An MRI on Keynan Middleton's elbow revealed damage to his right ulnar collateral ligament, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports. He will be placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Fantasy Impact

This is not good news for Middleton owners as ligament damage is never good to hear. The 24-year-old reliever could be out awhile. It looks like Jim Johnson is the leading candidate to get save opportunities followed by Cam Bedrosian and Blake Parker.

Keynan Middleton leaves Sunday's game with apparent injury

Keynan Middleton was removed from Sunday's game against the Twins in the eighth inning after throwing a pitch to Eddie Rosario with an apparent injury.

Fantasy Impact

Middleton was brought into a tie game in the eighth inning and retired the first two batters before leaving with an apparent injury. Middleton had just returned from an elbow injury so it's obviously possible that it flared up again, but stay posted for word after the game.

Keynan Middleton sees action right away, doesn't get save

Keynan Middleton pitched one inning, striking out two and giving up a hit as the Angels beat the Twins 7-4.

Fantasy Impact

Middleton, just activated from the disabled list, got to pitch in his first game back but not for a save as he picked up his second hold setting up Jim Johnson for the save. Still the odds-on favorite to be the primary closer moving forward, this is likely just a matter of manager Mike Scioscia being cautious.
