White Sox infielder Leury Garcia is absent from Thursday's lineup due to leg tightness.
Garcia will miss his second consecutive game due to leg tightness. He will be available off the bench if needed in Thursday's contest. Danny Mendick is starting at shortstop and batting ninth in Garcia’s place.
Leury Garcia went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and a run scored during Sunday’s 7-4 loss to the Angels.
Tim Anderson exited Sunday’s game early with a tight hamstring. Garcia replaced Anderson at shortstop and swiped his first bag of the season. Anderson’s injury isn’t believed to be serious and is considered day-to-day. Garcia could see an uptick in at-bats for the upcoming series against the Mariners but is mainly a streamer in deep-league formats.
Leury Garcia will undergo surgery to repair his sprained right thumb.
He was transferred to the 45-day IL on Saturday. The surgery will have him sidelined until October, which puts him out for the duration of the 2020 season.
Leury Garcia was placed on the injured list on Tuesday with a sprained left thumb. He sustained the injury on Monday while sliding into first base to beat out an infield single.
X-rays turned up negative for the White Sox utility-man, which is good news. He could be activated as soon as he's eligible to return. Tim Anderson was activated in a corresponding move. Garcia was off to a solid start this season with a .271/.317/.441 batting line with three home runs and eight RBI.
Leuury Garcia was removed from Monday's game against the Tigers with a hand injury.
The good news is X-rays came back negative. It sounds as if he avoided a major injury so consider him day-to-day for now.
