San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Gonzalez underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back Tuesday, according to manager Gabe Kapler.

The 27-year-old outfielder could miss half the season after undergoing the knife but is expected to play in the 2023 season.
