Marc Rzepczynski shuts down the Rangers in the seventh

Marc Rzepczynski allowed one hit while walking one and striking out one in the seventh inning against Texas on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

Rzepczynski was the anchor out of the Seattle bullpen in this appearance. While five of his last six relief appearances lasted less than one inning, Rzepczynski's ERA in the month of May is 3.38 with an inflated 3.00 WHIP.

Marc Rzepczynski strikes out three and allows three unearned

Marc Rzepczynski threw 2/3 of an inning in the Mariners' loss to Texas on Wednesday. He walked one while striking out three and allowing three unearned.

Fantasy Impact

After inheriting a runner on second in the top of the ninth, Rzepczynski struck out the first two Rangers he faced. After intentionally walking Kiner-Falefa, Odor reached on an error to load the bases. Rzepczynski then struck out Guzman swinging on a passed ball to the backstop, allowing two runs to score. One punchout, two runs, zero outs. This outing reduced Rzepczynski's season ERA to 8.53 and opponents' AVG to .333 over 6 1/3 innings in 15 games.

Marc Rzepczynski takes loss

Marc Rzepczynski (2-1) allowed a single and a walk to the only two batters he faced, but suffered the loss when both came around to score in Seattle's 6-2 defeat to the Astros on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

Rzepczynski entered the game to start the sixth inning, and gave up a single to Marwin Gonzalez and a walk to Brian McCann. He was relieved by Nick Vincent, who surrendered a line drive double to Alex Bregman, allowing both Gonzalez and McCann to score. The two earned- runs charged to Rzepczynski caused his ERA to rise from 3.10 to 3.72. The veteran southpaw has been a consistent bridge to the back end of the bullpen, and has 19 holds on the year, a career best. Consider Monday's performance a minor blip on the radar.

Marc Rzepczynski records save

Marc Rzepczynski struck out Chris Davis with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning to record his first save of the year in Seattle's nail-biting 7-6 win over the Orioles Wednesday afternoon. Davis was the only batter Rzepczynski faced.

Fantasy Impact

Rzepczynski was summoned to close out the game after Edwin Diaz almost failed to protect a three-run lead in the ninth. With the bases loaded and two outs, the veteran left-handed specialist quickly fanned Davis on three straight pitches to preserve Seattle's one run victory. Rzepczynski has been an invaluable member of the Mariners' bullpen this season. He has not allowed a run in his last nine appearances. For the year, his record is 2-0 with a 2.94 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 14 holds. Monday's save was Rzepzcynski's second save of his career, the first coming in 2014 as a member of the Indians. He should be considered in AL-only and deep leagues that count holds.

Marc Rzepczynski traded to Nationals

The Nationals have traded for lefty reliever Marc Rzepczynski from the Oakland Athletics. Max Schrock will head to the A's in the deal.

Fantasy Impact

Rzepczynski has tossed 30 innings for the A's in 2016 to a 3.00 ERA. While there is little fantasy value away from holds assigned to him directly, he should lengthen the Nats bullpen and provide more save opportunities for closer Mark Melancon and in turn secure more wins for Nationals starters.
