Matt Moore traded to Rangers

The Giants have traded Matt Moore and international signing bonus pool money to the Rangers in exchange for minor-league pitchers Sam Wolff and Israel Cruz.

Fantasy Impact

Giants GM Bobby Evans essentially conceded this was more about clearing salary than adding talent. Wolff is recovering from flexor tendon surgery and isn't expected to be ready until June and Cruz hasn't pitched past rookie ball yet. As for Moore, given his rough season in an excellent pitcher's park in the National League, it's hard to expect any fantasy value with the move to the Rangers.

Matt Moore shuts down Rockies Wednesday

Matt Moore pitched six shutout innings against the Rockies on Wednesday, striking out six.

Fantasy Impact

Moore pitched like he did in early days with the Rays. He dominated the Rockies and was able to stay ahead of the batters. He has never been a fantasy option with his poor win/loss record, but could return to his form next season.

Matt Moore struggles again

Matt Moore allowed four runs in four-plus innings Wednesday against Dodgers.

Fantasy Impact

Moore is now 5-14 with a 5.39 ERA. He was able to win his last start against White Sox, but that was the first win since August 18. Moore is expected to make his next start against the Rockies but don't start him unless you are desperate.

Matt Moore can't get it done against the Padres

Matt Moore allowed five runs over five innings in a loss to the Padres on Tuesday. He gave up eight hits and one walk while striking out two.

Fantasy Impact

Moore was coming off three straight solid efforts, so this game was a massive disappointment against the light-hitting Padres. Moore's ERA now sits at 5.49, and considering he can't even be trusted in the best matchup you could ask for, is simply not a startable option any longer.

Matt Moore sharp for six innings on Wednesday

Matt Moore received a no-decision on Wednesday afternoon versus Milwaukee, twirling six innings of one-run ball while striking out six.

Fantasy Impact

Moore allowed five hits and walked two. The outing lowered his season ERA to 5.38 on the year. He's certainly capable of impressive performances like this, but ultimately isn't trustworthy enough to be counted on in fantasy leagues.
