Reliever Nate Jones signed a minor-league deal with the Atlanta Braves. He's a non-roster invitee.
In 2020, Nate Jones recorded an ERA above 3.48 for the first time since 2014. In 18.2 innings pitched, Jones finished with 23 strikeouts, six walks, and a 6.27 ERA. Unfortunately, Jones isn't fantasy relevant.
Nate Jones was DFA'd by the Reds on Tuesday. Sonny Gray was activated from the IL in a corresponding move.
Jones has a 6.27 ERA over 18 2/3 innings pitched this season. He has a career 3.31 ERA over 310 innings pitched but hasn't had a full season of work since 2016. Still, a bullpen needy team will likely take a flier on him during the offseason.
Nate Jones was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.
Jones will miss at least the next three days after landing on the paternity list Tuesday. He will spend this week with his family and will have to submit a negative COVID-19 test before rejoining his teammates. Jose De Leon was called up in a corresponding move.
The Red have added RHP Nate Jones to the Opening Day roster.
Jones signed a minor-league deal in February, but showed enough in camp to be added to the Opening Day roster. He had surgery to repair a torn flexor mass and missed most of last season. Jones owned a 3.48 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and a 10:7 K:BB across 10 1/3 innings in 2019.
Nate Jones and cash considerations was traded from the White Sox to the Rangers in exchange for minor league pitchers Joe Jarneski and Ray Castro.
Jones is on the mend from surgery to address a right forearm strain and has been ruled out the rest of the 2019 season. His contract contains a $3.75 million club option for 2020. Jones will give the Rangers added bullpen depth in 2020.
