Nick Gonzales went 4-for-6 with a double and a run scored on Saturday as the Pirates routed the Giants, 13-3.
Fantasy Impact
Gonzales entered Saturday on an 0-for-11 skid in his previous four games before recording his first four-hit effort of the season. It was his third multi-hit game in seven May contests and his 14th of the year. Gonzales ranks seventh in the National League with his .323 average, but his lack of power hurts his fantasy value. He has not hit a home run this season and his double in the ninth on Saturday was his first extra-base hit since April 27. But, the average is nice and he has carved out a near-everyday role with Pirates, typically starting at third against righties and moving over to second against lefties.
Nick Gonzales had three singles and a walk in five trips to the plate on Friday, helping the Pirates to a 9-1 victory over the Reds.
Fantasy Impact
After seeing his 10-game hitting streak come to an end on Thursday, Gonzales started a new streak on Friday with three singles against Reds' pitching. He is hitting .481 (13-for-27) over his last seven games and, overall, is tied for second in the National League with a .333 batting average (36-for-108) on the year. However, only five of his 36 hits (all doubles) have gone for extra bases and, because of his power and speed limitations, he's still not a must-own in fantasy.
Nick Gonzales went 3-for-4 with a run scored on Monday as the Pirates dropped a 4-2 decision to the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
Gonzales doubled and scored in the second inning against Cardinals' starter, Dustin May. He added singles in the sixth and ninth innings, but was left stranded both times. It was his second three-hit game in the last three contests and he now has an eight-game hitting streak. During the stretch, Gonzales is hitting .484 (15-for-31) to bring his season average up to .323 - tied for third-best in the National League. However, of his 30 hits this year, only five - all doubles - have gone for extra bases.
Nick Gonzales went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in the Pirates' 2-0 loss at Cincinnati on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Gonzales is 5-for-18 (.278) on the young season with a .678 OPS in his four games. The Pirates' third baseman recorded his first stolen base since the 2024 season and it was just his sixth career swipe in 229 career games. Gonzales also does not offer much in the way of power, so he remains off the fantasy radar except for the deepest of leagues.
Nick Gonzales took grounders at third base in camp on Thursday.
Fantasy Impact
Gonzales started 85 games at second base and 13 at shortstop in 2025, but was seen taking grounders at third base Thursday. With Brandon Lowe now on the team, he could open the season at third. Getting reps there during camp increases Gonzales’ playing opportunities and could see him take the field at three different positions this year. He posted a .260/.299/.362 slash line last season.
