Nick Goody was designated for assignment on Thursday.
Goody will be removed from the Rangers 40-man roster to make room for Andrew Romine. He struggled most of 2020, recording a 9.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 13 strikeouts over 11 innings.
Nick Goody was activated from the IL by the Rangers on Wednesday. He had been out since August 11th with back spasms. He struck out all three batters he faced in his return.
Goody generates a lot of strikeouts with his fastball-slider mix. It is possible that he can pitch his way into the mix for holds in Texas. Owners in holds leagues can add Goody to their watch lists but leave him on the waiver wire for now.
Rangers reliever Nick Goody was placed on the 10-day injured list with back spasms Wednesday, the team announced. Right-hander Jimmy Herget was recalled from the team's alternate site to take his place on the roster.
In seven appearances this season, Goody has one save to go with a 4.50 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, and 2:3 K:BB ratio over four innings of work. He was briefly a candidate for save opportunities in Texas after Jose Leclerc went down with an injury, but that role has since been filled by Rafael Montero.
Ranger RP Nick Goody has been unavailable lately due to tightness in his lower back.
Goody was an option for the Rangers' closer job earlier this month but that role has since been claimed by Rafael Montero. Texas will soon make a decision whether or not to put Goody on the IL.
