The Marlins have placed right-handed pitcher Nick Neidert on the 10-day injured list as he deals with biceps inflammation.
Neidert spent one month in the minors before returning to MLB on Wednesday. Over 16 innings in Triple-A, he surrendered just two earned runs. Back in the majors, he allowed one run over four innings against the Phillies. He walked two, struck out three, and gave up four hits. The 24-year-old is now 0-1 with a 5.63 ERA through four starts in his first season a big-league starter.
Marlins pitcher Nick Neidert allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Wednesday.
Neidert was fine on Wednesday but offers little upside for fantasy managers. He has only through a total of 16 innings over four starts and has walked a total of 13 batters.
The Marlins have optioned right-handed pitcher Nick Neidert to the alternate site. This comes after he allowed five runs over three innings in his start on Tuesday.
Neidert's demotion brings the Marlins' active roster to 25, so they have an open spot. However, they're not expected to make a corresponding move and fill his spot until Thursday. Neidert has allowed nine runs over three starts (12 innings) this season.
Marlins pitcher Nick Neidert allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over three innings in Tuesday's loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
Through three starts, Neidert now has a 6.75 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, and an 8:11 K:BB ratio. He is currently scheduled to face the Giants in San Francisco in his next start and should only be considered as a streaming option in deeper NL-only leagues where there aren't many other options.
Marlins starting pitcher Nick Neidert allowed three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Braves on Wednesday.
The concern here is that Neidert has now walked nine batters over his first nine innings of the year, and he is not worth rostering in most formats until he improves his control and command. His next start is scheduled to come against the Baltimore Orioles at home.
