The Pirates optioned 3B/OF Nick Yorke to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Fantasy Impact
Yorke had been struggling to start the season. He will return to Triple-A with Jared Triolo activated from the injured list.
Nick Yorke went 1-for-4 with a solo home run as the Pirates defeated the Rays, 6-3, on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
Yorke hit his home run off of Rays' reliever, Ian Seymour, in the bottom of the eighth to add an insurance run for the Pirates. It was his first home run since September 20 of last season against the Athletics. After getting his average up to a season-high .379 on April 11, Yorke has cooled off and is just 3-for-28 over his last seven games. He's hitting .246 with a .694 OPS this season.
Nick Yorke went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk to help the Pirates to a 4-3, 11-inning, victory over the Cubs on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
Yorke has become a regular in the Pirates' lineup due to his production during the month of the April. The 24-year-old registered his second three-hit game in the last three contests and is batting .476 (10-for-21) with a 1.196 OPS in seven games this month. For the year, Yorke is hitting .379 (11-for-29) with three runs scored, three doubles, and two RBI in 10 games. It remains to be seen what happens when Jared Triolo returns, but it's going to be tough for the Pirates to take his bat out of the lineup if he keeps up this pace. While the batting average is nice, Yorke is not a must-own in fantasy as he doesn't offer much from a speed or power standpoint.
Nick Yorke went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored but it wasn't enough as the Pirates dropped an 8-2 decision to the Padres on Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Since his walk-off double last Saturday against the Orioles, Yorke has started three of Pittsburgh's last four games at third base and has gone 5-for-10 during the stretch. He accounted for half of Pittsburgh's six hits on Wednesday, including his second double of the year and a leadoff single in the seventh that left his bat at 109.8 mph. Yorke is batting .381 (8-for-21) on the season with three runs scored, two doubles, two RBI, and a 5:4 BB:K ratio. He is splitting time with Nick Gonzales while Jared Triolo (knee) is out, but he is certainly pushing for more action - even after Triolo returns - with the way he is swinging the bat. Keep an eye on him.
