However, another leadoff single in the eighth proved more fruitful, as he came across to score the game-tying run before the Reds added another in the frame to cap the comeback. Friday marked Marte's first three-hit game of the season and his fifth multi-hit effort of the campaign. He has shown flashes of delivering on his prospect hype, but is still hitting .200 with six homers, five stolen bases, and a .599 OPS across 51 appearances on the season.

Several Reds had big evenings on Wednesday, but Marte drove in a team-high four runs thanks to a solo homer in a four-homer fourth inning and a bases-clearing double to put this one out of reach in the sixth. The long ball was his second in his last five games while he recorded his first multi-hit effort since June 21. Marte is slashing .205/.256/.402 with six home runs, 15 runs, 13 RBI, and four stolen bases in 37 big league games this season.
