Pirates prospect SS Oneil Cruz is currently sidelined due to a right forearm strain.
Pittsburgh's No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline felt some discomfort after a throw while playing for Double-A Altoona. The 22-year-old is expected to resume baseball activities in late July.

The accident killed three people. It's an awful situation that could result in jail time for Diaz if what the prosecutors are saying is true. Initial reports were that alcohol wasn't involved, but this latest news clearly contradicts that. Cruz is a fascinating top-100 shortstop prospect who may never get a chance in the big leagues after this. This won't be the last we hear of this story.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have released a statement regarding the accident that SS prospect Oneil Cruz was involved with in the Dominican Republic.
“The Pirates are aware of the tragic accident in the Dominican Republic involving Oneil Cruz. We have been in contact with Oneil and he is cooperating fully with the local authorities. We will provide an update as more information becomes available," is what the Pirates' statement said. There was apparently a motorcycle accident that killed three people.
