Randy Wolf takes another loss for the Tigers

Detroit SP Randy Wolf pitched seven innings on Monday, giving up three earned runs on five hits. He also scattered four walks and six strikeouts for the Tigers, as the Chicago White Sox beat Detroit 3-2 in the second game of a double-header.

Fantasy Impact

Randy Wolf is essentially an innings-eater for the Tigers at this point in the season. The 39-year-old has made six starts for the Tigers this season and is 0-4 with a 5.91 ERA. The one positive you can say about Wolf is that he has 24 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched, but he has also given up 21 earned runs in that same span.

Randy Wolf gets hit around against the Kansas City Royals

Veteran Randy Wolf gave up eight runs on eight hits on Wednesday night against the Royals, while lasting only 3 2/3 innings. The Tigers lost the contest 12-1.

Fantasy Impact

Wolf had pitched well in his two previous appearances with the pitching-depleted Tigers, going seven innings in back-to-back starts, but this trend did not continue. The 39-year-old lefty is now 0-3 with a 6.11 ERA that was no doubt inflated by this outing. Depending on the offense he is matched up against, he could be used as a fill-in starter if needed for the playoffs.

Randy Wolf turns back the clock with Tigers

Randy Wolf pitched his second quality start in as many attempts on Thursday, pitching seven innings of one-run ball. In two starts this season, he is sporting a 2.57 ERA.

Fantasy Impact

It may only be a matter of time before offenses figure out Wolf and start to hit the soft-tosser, but he has a good chance to rack up a few wins to close out the season. He will look to continue his successful comeback against the Royals next Wednesday.

Randy Wolf traded to Tigers

The Blue Jays have traded veteran pitcher Randy Wolf to the Detroit Tigers

Fantasy Impact

Wolf will start Saturday at home against the Texas Rangers. He has racked up solid numbers in Triple-A this season going 9-2 with a 2.58 ERA. The Tigers acquired the veteran southpaw after injuries to pitchers Daniel Norris and Anibal Sanchez, who have been placed on the disabled list. If Wolf can pitch like he did at Triple-A Buffalo this season, he could surprise folks, but he is not someone to use in daily leagues except possibly in GPPs.
