He now has a 0.00 ERA and 0.48 WHIP with four saves and one hold through eight appearances. In only eight pitches, he got two swings and misses, allowing only one hard hit ball. He's looked like one of the best closers in the early going.

O'Brien was called on with a two-out lead in the bottom of the tenth inning. He hit a batter and let the Manfred Man score on a wild pitch, but otherwise escaped unscathed. He's looked great in the early going and seems to be the Cardinals' preferred option with a late lead.

Riley has gotten each of the last two save chances for the Cardinals and has been excellent. They will probably still work JoJo Romero in on occasion, but O'Brien is the clear guy to have in this bullpen.

O'Brien finally got his first save of the season after being used in the highest leverage spots. The Cardinals have mixed and matched their way through closing games so far, but it seems that JoJo Romero and O'Brien are the two best options for saves.
O'Brien (calf) is competing to serve as St. Louis' closer this season. A minor calf strain has delayed his spring progression.

He completed a live batting practice session on Monday without issues, though wet mound conditions affected his footing. Another live batting practice session is scheduled for Thursday, this time with a shorter workload before hitters. O'Brien hopes to make his Grapefruit League debut on Saturday. He is projected to have sufficient time to prepare for Opening Day.
