The New York Yankees and free-agent Ruben Tejada have agreed on a minor-league contract with an invitation to training camp.

This has little to no fantasy relevance and Tejada should not get or have much playing time this season. Tejada should not even be on the draft radar come March/April time. Tejada finished last season with a .167 average and five RBI.

There was some hope that Tejada could be a fantasy asset when he was sent to the Cardinals following Jhonny Peralta's injury. That never materialized, ultimately resulting in his release. He struggled mightily this season with an OPS of .460 in limited playing time.

Ruben Tejada was activated from the disabled list on Monday. Greg Garcia was sent to Triple-A Memphis to clear a spot on the 25-man roster.

With Aledmys Diaz playing so well, it's doubtful that Tejada will take back the everyday shortstop job right away. Tejada is not in the lineup on Monday, and will likely be eased into steady playing time.
