Ryan Dull (knee) was activated from the 10-day disabled list and has delivered three scoreless innings in three appearances since.
After missing two months with a right knee strain, Dull has pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings picking up three strikeouts and a hold in the process. He was having a rough year, posting a 6.32 ERA in 18 appearances before going down with the injury, a huge disappointment for the A's and fantasy owners alike after his strong season last year where he posted a 2.42 ERA and shiny 0.87 WHIP in a set-up role for the A's. Still, given the fluidity in the back-end of the A's bullpen (particularly after the departures of Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson, the release of John Axford and the chaos that is Santiago Casilla) there may be a fantasy-relevant role for Dull down the stretch if he can recapture the form he demonstrated last year.
Ryan Dull (knee) is healing slower than expected according to A's manager Bob Melvin.
Currently on the 10-day DL, Dull hasn't pitched since May 19 with a strained right knee and appears to be headed for an extended absence despite the MRI ruling out any major structural damage. Dull has so far delivered a disappointing 6.32 ERA, 1.47 WHIP but with 18 strikeouts through 15 2/3 innings this season. Despite the rough line, he still leads the team with nine holds giving him some value in deeper formats upon his return.
Ryan Dull came on in relief in the ninth with a chance to earn the save and ended up getting tagged for three runs, earning the loss and a blown save in the process.
It looks like it may be a closer committee to start season in Oakland. Unless you're in a deep league that values both saves and holds, you may want to stay away from Dull as he is unlikely to get the majority of save chances.
Ryan Dull picked up his third save on Sunday, allowing a hit and striking out a batter over a scoreless inning of work.
Dull could see more opportunities moving forward with the struggles of the team's named closer Ryan Madson. Dull has impressed this season, posting an ERA and WHIP of 2.30 and 0.81 with nearly a strikeout per inning over just over 70 frames.
