Ryan Vogelsong will return to AT&T Park on Sunday, September 17, to retire as a Giant.
It's a fitting end for the journeyman turned World Champion contributor. Vogelsong played a pivotal role when he returned to the Majors in 2011 with the Giants. He surprised everyone by becoming an All-Star in his first year back to big leagues and had seven starts in the postseason for the team (2012 & 2014) finishing with 3 wins, 0 losses, and a 2.92 ERA over 37.0 IP.
Ryan Vogelsong took his fourth loss of the season against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Vogelsong threw five innings (six hits), walked three, and gave up five earned runs.
Vogelsong was not a recommended fantasy start in most leagues going into Wednesday's matchup against the Cubs, and he proved why with five earned runs in five innings. The veteran is only worth a roster spot in the deepest of fantasy leagues.
Ryan Vogelsong (3-3) is looking to inch over the .500 mark against the Chicago Cubs. The veteran holds a 3.02 ERA with 39 K
Vogelsong has pitched to a 2.48 ERA in his last five outings. He faces a potent Cubs lineup which is sure to put his recent success to the test. Only roll with Vogelsong in deeper fantasy leagues.
Ryan Vogelsong did not toss a quality start. Instead, he picked up his second win of the season. Vogelsong threw 5.2 innings (nine hits) and gave up four runs while striking out one.
It was a bit of redemption for the former San Francisco Giants pitcher. Although it wasn't the best out in the world, Vogelsong hung in long enough to earn a victory. He won't strikeout a ton of batters, or put up gaudy numbers, but Vogelsong makes for an average fill-in play in deep fantasy leagues.
Ryan Vogelsong (eye) gets an easy matchup against the Atlanta Braves in his return to action. The veteran pitcher went 1-2 with 2.86 ERA in four rehabs starts before the call-up.
Vogelsong is not going to set the world on fire with his pitching arsenal. He is a veteran guy, and the Pittsburgh Pirates are looking for someone to give them quality innings. Expect five to six innings from Vogelsong tonight with a handful of strikeouts and a solid chance to pick up a win against the lowly Atlanta Braves.
