Fantasy Impact
The Angels 2021 first-round pick pitched 14 innings in high-A last season, posting a 3.77 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP with a 25.9 percent strikeout rate. Bachman's work ethic has impressed Angels player development director Joey Prebynski. Bachman noted his changeup is "Light years away from what it was in college." Bachman didn't feel the need to use it often before becoming a professional because he dominated hitters with a fastball that can reach 102 mph and a wipeout slider. Angels pitcher Ky Bush is Bachman's throwing parter and also noted he has seen Bachman's changeup improve. The added changeup could go a long way for Bachman sticking as a starter.
The Angels have selected right-handed pitcher Sam Bachman with the No. 9 pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Fantasy Impact
Bachman has an incredible fastball that has developed immensely as of late; the pitch now touches triple-digits from time to time. He also possesses a powerful slider and deceptive changeup that should serve as very solid complementary pitches as Bachman appears in the Angels' rotation down the road.
