Sixto Sanchez doing 'total body strengthening,' throwing 75 MPH

Sixto Sanchez is doing "total body strengthening" and is throwing 75 miles per hour off a mound.

Fantasy Impact

Any progress is good progress for Sanchez as he continues his lengthy recovery from a shoulder injury. Fantasy managers should not be thinking about him contributing in redraft formats, but the once-heralded prospect is still just 23 years old and may have a bright future ahead of him. Root for him to avoid setbacks and hope we see him on the mound at some point this season.

Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) completing his dry mound work

Marlins pitcher Sixto Sanchez is completing his dry mound work and throwing at 75 MPH.

Fantasy Impact

Sanchez continues to work his way back from a shoulder injury. He remains without a clear timetable to return at this point in time.

Sixto Sanchez (shoulder) throwing from 105 feet

Sixto Sanchez is throwing from 105 feet now, according to Don Mattingly.

Fantasy Impact

This is progress, of course, but Sanchez is nowhere close to returning from his shoulder injury. He's still doing dry side mound work but not tossing from a mound, so until he takes that step, it's not worth talking much about his potential return.

Sixto Sanchez ceases all throwing activity

Jordan McPherson reports that general manager Kim Ng stated that Sixto Sanchez has been shut down with no throwing.

Fantasy Impact

Sanchez recently felt discomfort in his right shoulder which had been surgically repaired last July. His MRI came back clean. Optimistic fantasy managers can take a late-round flyer on him if they want, but there has not been promising news on the young pitcher during the offseason.

Sixto Sanchez hurt again

Sanchez missed all of 2021 after dealing with shoulder issues that resulted in surgery in late July. According to Mish, on March 1, Sanchez has another undisclosed injury.

Fantasy Impact

If you had questions about drafting Sanchez for fantasy in 2022, this should probably answer your question. After missing the entire 2021 season and not having surgery until July 22, Sanchez was thought to have been ready for the 2022 season. Instead, reports surfaced this offseason that he was ignoring the Marlins rehab plan for his shoulder. In a Twitter Space session on March 1, Craig Mish stated Sanchez had another undisclosed injury. Mish said: "I definitely can identify when an organization is extremely sour on a player, and this is that player." Sanchez is an undeniable talent, but this is not the news fantasy managers want to hear. At that point, Sanchez is a complete avoid for Fantasy purposes.
