Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) will begin the season on the 60-day IL.
Fantasy Impact
After an injury cut a fantastic season short in late June of last year, Schwellenbach was aiming to get back on track this year. That will now be delayed at least a couple of months. The issue is being labeled as elbow inflammation for now, and the team is hoping that Schwellenbach is dealing with bone spurs rather than something more complicated. The Braves will likely look to add a starting pitcher via free agency or trade very soon. Fantasy managers should not expect to get much from Schwellenbach until June at minimum.
Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow) is yet to begin throwing.
Fantasy Impact
This is not a promising development for anyone hoping to see Schwellenbach back on the mound for the Braves this season. The second-year righty was originally expected to be out until at least late August after sustaining an elbow fracture just over a month ago.
The Braves transferred RHP Spencer Schwellenbach to the 60-day injured list.

Fantasy Impact
Schwellenbach was dominant in his last outing against the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing one earned run over seven innings while striking out 12. However, he experienced soreness the following day, and tests revealed a small fracture. He will be shut down for four weeks, with the expectation that he’ll return to the mound in September.
