Turnbull was released by the Blue Jays just a few weeks ago after making just three appearances (one start) and posting a 7.11 ERA over 6 1/3 innings. Turnbull was much more effective with the Phillies last season, as he recorded a 2.65 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 58-20 K/BB ratio across 54 1/3 innings. He started seven of his 17 games in Philadelphia, and it is yet to be seen which role the 32-year-old righty will take on for the Cubs. There is certainly a chance he heads to Triple-A initially, but the Cubs are dealing with some injuries in their pitching staff.
