Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan will not play on Saturday due to an upper respiratory illness.

Kwan has hit .259 with a couple of homers in 31 spring trips to the plate to this point. The 28-year-old shouldn't be out much longer than Saturday's breather.

Kwan has won the AL Gold Glove Award in left field in each of his four seasons. It appears Cleveland wants to test out some different outfield formations to use during the regular season. He should still primarily remain in left field.

Kwan, 28, has played four seasons in Cleveland and, last year, batted .272 with 11 home runs and 21 stolen bases. He made the All-Star Game for the second consecutive season and won his fourth Gold Glove in four years. He is a lifetime .281 hitter with a .351 on-base percentage. Kwan should once again be the leadoff man for the Guardians in 2026.

Steven Kwan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one strikeout in the Guardians’ 5-2 win over the Tigers on Tuesday.

Kwan now has 168 hits, 80 runs scored, and 55 RBI across 606 at-bats this season. Batting .277 with a .336 OBP, he’s provided steady contact skills at the top of Cleveland’s order.

Steven Kwan went 1-for-4 with a home run, one run scored, and one RBI in the loss to the Twins.

Kwan hit his first home run since August 13 and has recorded seven hits over his last four games. His performance yesterday brought his season totals to a .276 batting average with 166 hits, 55 RBI, and 78 runs scored across 150 games.
