Thomas Harrington has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Harrington pitched six innings this spring and posted a 1.50 ERA with three walks and two strikeouts. He made his major league debut last season with Pittsburgh and things, unfortunately, did not go well as he allowed 15 runs on 18 hits in just 8.2 innings. He's still an intriguing name to watch as evidenced by a career 3.73 ERA in 340.2 minor league innings. His 2024 campaign was especially promising as he combined to go 7-3 with a 2.61 ERA and a 115:19 K:BB ratio across three levels. Harrington pitched most of last season in Triple-A and will get some more work there to start 2026.

Harrington was brought up for Friday's series opener with the Rockies but is sent down on Saturday after allowing six earned runs on seven hits and two walks in just 2/3 of an inning in a stunning 17-16 loss to the Rockies. Dauri Moreta was brought up to take his spot on the 26-man roster.
